Jessica has been a certified personal trainer since 2002 and has developed a passion for health and fitness. Holding certifications from CAFS (Certification in Applied Functional Science), NASM (National Academy of Sports Medicine), ISSA (International Sports Science Association), AFAA (Aerobics & Fitness Association of America), and AFTA (American Fitness Training of Athletes). She also seeks to always learn more and improve her skills and knowledge base. Owner of ferrum fitness and creator of "JFit365", Jessica believes..."things are always changing and evolving and it is critical to always challenge ourselves to change and evolve to become better versions of ourselves".
Jessica attended Pepperdine University, where she competed for four years on the Women’s Swimming and Diving Team. While at Pepperdine she became captain of the swim team her senior year and achieved the student/athlete honors award for all four years while attending Pepperdine. After graduating Jessica became a certified personal trainer while she continued to swim competitively. She struggled with a back injury that kept her from competing any further. Jessica's struggles with her back injury and other minor health issues such as irritable bowl syndrome (IBS), acid reflux and continued sinus infections resulting in constant use of antibiotics frustrated her resulting in major depression. Longing for a life free of pain, health issues and always being sick she made a change! So the journey began toward a healthy lifestyle!
"My goal is to help others get through their struggles and show people we don't have to live in pain and be sick and unhealthy, it is amazing what small changes can do for someone, it is a matter of making it a priority". Jessica holds herself at a high standard and expects a lot of herself as well as her clients. She is very passionate about the over all health of her clients and is there to help people achieve their fitness goals and help guide them to make health and fitness a part of their life.
Over the years Jessica's training style has evolved into a process and method that has proven results! She has developed a method of training called "JFit365" that includes all components of fitness. Every body and person is different and there isn't one "method" that works for everyone. Each person has their own specific needs, wants and goals. This method is created to tailor to all different types of goals and needs. "JFit365" extends beyond the gym and expands to the lifestyle in which Jessica encourages her clients to live by. She dives into the nutritional aspects as well as the health and wellness of each individual person. Fitness, health and wellness are all encompassing, you can't change one area without effecting the other. It is time to bring a program to the market that really works and can be tailored to fit the individual to get the best results possible.
Jessica designed and opened up ferrum fitness, a boutique fitness center, that caters to her method of training, "JFit365". This style of training is much more functional in nature and requires a unique set up to be implemented and trained. She has had much success with her clients, as well as herself with this methodology and it continues to work as she is always evolving her program to fit her clients best interest and goals.
Jessica loves to work with people on a one-on-one basis. "This is where you can really make an impact in people's lives." She has a functional style of training that is integrated with shaping, toning, strength and conditioning as well as flexibility. She is focused on the long term fitness goals of her clients and works around injuries and to prevent injuries so fitness can be a part of her client's lives for years to come, while still achieving one's goals!
Jessica loves teaching group classes and has been instructing groups sense 2005. Her style of training is innovative, fun and different. Jessica's classes include all components of fitness, and focuses on intensity and functionality. "Groups are so much fun because this is where you can really feed off of others energy and push yourself past your comfort levels." She strives to create an environment that is fun and people look forward to coming.
NUTRITION & HEALTH
Nutrition is a big part of healthy living. When starting a workout program it is critical to have the proper nutrition to go with the goals each client is looking to accomplish. Nutrition is the key to getting the results people are looking for. With a well balanced diet focusing on eating fresh, non processed foods and no sugars can make a world of diffence in the gym as well as outside the gym. "You are what you eat!"
"I have always been active and involved in athletics. Through the years my passion for athletics has become an overall passion for health and fitness. I strive to always become stronger and healthier through the lifestyle I live. I believe that if we all keep our health at the fore front of our priorities life will always find a way to work itself out.
I feel lucky that I love what I do and I work hard at passing this enthusiasm for fitness on to my clients. I work hard to help my clients reach their goals. If you give me 100% I will give you 110%. Be strong and always fight, the struggle is what makes life good. It builds character and allows us to know when the good times fall upon us to enjoy and savor!"
